In this episode of the Australian TV show ‘Catalyst’, heart surgeon Dr Nikki Stamp shares the story of Del Nash, who experienced a massive heart attack three years ago caused by Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), a rare emergency occurrence where a tear forms in the wall of the coronary artery. Del’s treatment required her to get a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), a mechanical pump implanted inside her chest to help her heart pump blood, causing her to have ‘no pulse’.
